Introduction

SigChange creates signature files for use with popular email and usenet programs. You've seen the kind of thing:
--
Matt J. Gumbley | matt @ | Author of the Freeware Psion TCP/IP stack
Researcher by Day, | gumbley . | For more details:
Programmer by Night. | demon . | http://www.gumbley.demon.co.uk/
Sleep when I'm dead. | co . uk | "Like wow.... wipeout!!"
This signature was created by SigChange. To create it, I have a template which looks like this:
--
Matt J. Gumbley | matt @ | Author of the Freeware Psion TCP/IP stack
Researcher by Day, | gumbley . | For more details:
Programmer by Night. | demon . | http://www.gumbley.demon.co.uk/
Sleep when I'm dead. | co . uk | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And a text file containing small sayings or quotations:
#Like wow.... wipeout!
#Have several nice days!
#Programmers do it 'til their bits toggle.
#I need a month of Sundays to help me cope with Mondays...
Each quotation starts with a hash symbol (#) to separate it from the rest. SigChange reads the quotation file, picks a quotation at random, and fits it into the space denoted by tilde symbols (~). The resulting signature is then stored in a file of your choosing, to be used by your favourite email or usenet program.
